Assassin's Creed Introduces Unexpected Attack on Titan Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a unexpected partnership that defies usual expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Uncovered
According to the official statement, "A strange encounter pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where rumors of prohibited rituals and monstrous changes resonate through the obscurity." The storyline features a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a hidden group.
The adventure centers on "peculiar trials and a monstrous foe" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Settings and Changes
The teaser showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer finishes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, probably the captive, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Items and Extra Content
Players who successfully complete the mission will receive an special katana together with multiple artifacts hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Update
This patch also introduces the game's third no-cost story content, titled "The Mystery." This humorous adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature abilities: Naoe debuts a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This represents scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime series. The series previously showcased a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
