Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 years since the first Toy Story movie debuted, establishing the animation giant as a major animation studio and introducing viewers to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, providing a brief look into the plot but leaving viewers wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a brand new plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge attached to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
